@schwa I actually wrote the review talking about how baffling it was to choose Leo’s character as a focal point of the story. In my opinion, his character has nothing to offer to the story besides being a comedic relief.

@jake4480 Sinners is great, but the tonal shift is too jarring, it felt like an entirely different story. I still believe One Battle After Another is worth watching, but you’ll definitely hate Leo even more after seeing the film! His character is just so messed up and unredeemable IMO. 😂

@todor Finally found someone else who’s also disappointed with Dune: Part 2! The film clearly lacks depth and nuance, something that’s remarkably unique to the Dune series, offering only visual spectacles. They essentially reduced everything to the book’s ‘moral of the story’ punchline, neglecting the character struggles and debates throughout the story narratives. And I’m truly baffled how they’re planning to adapt Dune Messiah when they barely touched on Paul’s visions in the movie. I hate this “show don’t tell, visual storytelling only” era of Denis so much! It just doesn’t fit with Dune series that are so dense filled with discussions!

@AlexWolfe You could say that if you only focus on the plot, but the vibe is so different that I can’t consider it anything other than a fun flick. Plus, the competition was so lacklustre that I fail to see the point of it. I think The Long Walk has more of The Hunger Games vibe than this movie, though it’s definitely bleaker and more brutal.
