About fifteen years ago, I remember reading articles saying that \"studies show\" changing the clock had significant negative effects, and that the arguments about increased productivity were not borne out by evidence. There were no claims then that permanent #DST was better than permanent standard time, as I recall, only that it would be better to stop switching back and forth.
(My own personal experience with small children also inclines me to oppose switching.)

I thought scientific studies made it clear that changing clocks is a bad idea, e.g., increased car accidents in the days after we spring forward and lose an hour of sleep, while on the other hand economic studies don't show any benefits to DST. Have I been misinformed?

1. I had similar feelings — a stop in Kingston is not necessarily a bad idea, but it means that the Ottawa-Toronto leg of the route is in a planning stage, rather than preliminary design, so at least a decade from completion.
2. On the other hand, the right way to build HSR is not to start with detailed design of a 1000 km corridor, but to build step-by-step, starting with Montréal-Ottawa.
3. Smiths Falls is probably the right place to connect the HSR line with local trains.

In each riding, the Liberals win if they get the most votes. The current system is intended to provide regions of citizens with the representative they prefer, not to provide parties with seats proportional to the their overall popular support. The evidence for the bottom in the housing market is that prices have stopped falling; but really to get a feel for the market, we should have an index based on inflation-adjusted prices over the last thirty years, not just the change in prices.
I hope this is a blip, and that housing prices will drop more.
