I’ll be honest, I can’t wait to see the new Muppets special. Based on the glowing NYT review, it’s just what I need at the moment:

There’s no newfangled hook, no contrived rationalization to bring the characters up to date, no pretensions toward heft or hipness. There are songs and slapstick and jokes, and nobody, blessedly, stayed up too late thinking about the reasons why. (Because Muppets, that’s why.)

@bethanyh As my grandfather always said, if you want a job done right, you usually have to do it yourself.

That said, usually there are good collected editions of essays you can find cheap online. Bloom’s Modern Critical Editions series is a great place to start, Cambridge Companions are usually great as well. You sadly aren’t going to find what you’re looking for online.

@writingslowly I started a zettelkasten about a year ago, and it has absolutely transformed my writing in just the way you describe here. I don’t currently title all my notes though—will consider adding this to my practice. I can see why titles would be beneficial for browsing in the z.

@spgreenhalgh great post, thanks. I found Harold Bloom’s understanding of the B of M in The American Religion compelling. He reads it as an articulation of the American spirit—a highly individual gnosis. Situating it alongside 19th century American lit certainly helped me better understand it.
