@philippsteinkrueger I’ve had luck with Tailscale + Mullvad VPN. If you have an Android TV, Apple TV or desktop computer at home, it’s easy to set up a VPN to your home network as well, if you travel a lot for example. It also let’s you configure custom DNS to block ads etc.

The idea to experiment with zines actually came to me through a related project on Braille and the geographies of blindness. Given that wind is a very haptic phenomenon, I thought it might be interesting to experiment with and teach students more-than-visual strategies and semiotics of mapping wind. After coming across Braille slates, I had this idea of creating wind-zines incorporating Braille. Similar to Alt Text as Poetry, I thought it might be exciting for students to explore the different possibilities of expression image, writing, Braille, etc. affords. So your suggestion brings this initial idea back to the question of (web) accessibility!

@jcalpickard this looks great! I read something yesterday on olfactory hallucinations (phantosmia) as enabling the patient to smell the weather. Something about a hallucination opening up reality was really striking.

@larsweisbrod 🥱 Gibt es eigentlich ein Wort dafür, wenn man das Interesse an einer Diskussion verliert, sobald einem die zugrundeliegende Struktur oder der Mechanismus transparent wird? Danach kann ich mich gar nicht mehr auf die Inhalte konzentrieren. Da fehlt dann irgendwie die notwendige Opazität, die eine Diskussion überhaupt erst interessant macht. So als wäre der Gang raus oder die Kette raus gesprungen und man tritt geistig ins nichts.(Twitterlagerdiskussionen waren diesbezüglich besonders schlimm.)

Geopolitical weather featured in Nature: “A Russian warship’s sinking is linked to strange weather pattern”:

They found that weather patterns had led to a temperature inversion, with warmer air at higher altitudes and cooler air below it, between Ukrainian radar sources and the warship. Because of this, radar waves could refract off the atmosphere and travel much farther than usual, all the way to the warship.
