@jkratz Yeah, this is also why I don’t give 1-5 ratings to books I read. For a lot of people, 4 stars is excellent, 5 stars is reserved for the absolutely perfect thing. I prefer just “was this good and worth recommending?” Thumbs up works for that.

@bax I just listened to that episode too. I think it shows that OpenAI has managed to get a lot of native Mac developers. Codex is still technically Electron, but they’ve infused it with Mac stuff.

The new Codex for Mac update is really good. There are a bunch of new features, but computer use is particularly well done. Some great Mac-specific touches. Ari Weinstein worked on it — from the original Workflow team, and Shortcuts at Apple.

@diogot I’m strict about avoiding .10 and higher. I don’t like that .1 and .10 are sort of “equal” if treated as numbers. It reads badly. Also, some of that comes from classic Mac OS which I don’t think allowed > 9 for the bug fix field, although my memory might be wrong on that.

@oliverames I haven’t used Claude enough recently to really judge it, because I’ve been happy with Codex + 5.4. I think Claude likes to plan more, and Codex works well just digging into the code and figuring things out as it goes.
