That said, maybe it's not Perplexity itself, but the fact that it is a step above what ChatGPT and Claude do: text generation with up-to-date information, relevant to what was typed out and submitted in their text field.

Perplexity at least pulls up relevant information, which I can then cross-reference with Google Scholar.

That said, I think this forceful \"housing is a right, and people shouldn't be homeless\" is having the opposite effect, paradoxically.
I like to think that a better way is that rather than only the government acting charitably (using tax dollars) to help the unhoused, in addition to that, they should participate in the market, competing with private housing suppliers already in the market.
Take away the \"housing is a right\" mandate, and instead look at other metrics: housing cost, and managing it by managing supply or adjusting costs, make profit, and use the profit to house the unhoused.

If anything, even without AI, people would just be complacently reading certain docs and writing Fediverse software just naively parse JSON, with little regard to how linked-data and JSON (JSON-LD) is supposed to work.
