@mjd It’s possible it was overstated to begin with; carpal tunnel syndrome, specifically, has turned out to be only weakly correlated with computer use: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5868084/ (one example among many)

As far as repetitive strain injuries in general go, I imagine it has helped that people use their“computers” under more heterogeneous conditions now. You’re not always in the same chair, in the same posture, on the same keyboard (even if any given laptop/tablet/beanbag isn’t particularly ergonomic by itself).
