Trump says government might help struggling Spirit

Like someone handed an alka seltzer on the morning of their flight back from spring break, Spirit Airlines is hopeful relief is coming. President Trump told CNBC yesterday that “he’d love somebody to buy Spirit” and that “maybe” the federal government should help the ailing airline since it employs 14,000 people.

Spirit’s stock soared more than 122% on the news of a potential Uncle Sam bailout.

A memory that is seared in my mind is when my daughter walked off the soccer field after one of her high school games. She was desperately trying to hold back the tears. She walked straight into my arms and just cried uncontrollably.

What is the real value that a software developer/engineer/architect provides?\nWas it that we can type fast? No. Was it that we learned esoteric programming languages and frameworks? No. Was it that we could write code that was efficient and performant? No.

We are systems thinkers. At least good developers are.

What does that mean? A systems thinker can take a problem, decompose it into smaller pieces, and figure out how to solve those pieces in a way that fits together to solve the larger problem.

@manton One more thing (sorry for the bother), but I imported my Instagram data today, and my homepage now shows (some of) those (older) posts intermixed with my more recent posts. The posts seem to have the correct date on them, they’re just kind of thrown in there.

@manton Honestly, that would be a great start. I’ve not really paid attention to Facebook (as a platform) for so long that I don’t even know what’s possible (or what all is in the exported data that you get from the download).

The thing that springs to mind is (and this is all assuming the export includes this data) a reference to the original message if I had commented on it. I think the same for the “like” aspect may be a step too far (for you). I saw something similar with my Twitter import, that the comments I made were out of context when the original post was not present.

@odd Totally agree…I was talking with my wife as we took my daughter back to school this past weekend. Someone summed it up like this: “They don’t like the change that has happened in the past 20-30 years (give or take). It makes them angry. Progress for others has not been progress for them. And they want things ‘back to the way they were’ when things were simpler for them.“

I can understand the feeling. I would venture to say we all wish things could go back to a simpler time that we felt comfortable in.

But that doesn’t mean you get to lash out at people and affect their lives for the worse. To me, that’s a thing we all learn (I hope) about being an adult. You don’t get everything you want, and you have to find a way to live with that disappointment. harsh, but true. If you can change it, absolutely do so. But NOT by harming others.
