I was today years old when I learned that U.S. astronaut Sally Ride was gay. Apparently, she had a 27-year relationship with her partner that she somehow kept hidden. My god, that’s a long time to keep the love of your life hidden from the world. I’m so glad she found that love, though.

Trump administration rule would end tax exemption for colleges that keep DEI | AP News

The Treasury Department proposed the change Thursday in a new regulation that, if made final, would kick in after May 2027. The rule is broadly aimed at ending any policies or programs that help students because of their race, and it specifically says such benefits in admissions, scholarships and facilities “would be incompatible” with the rule.

@manton One more thing (sorry for the bother), but I imported my Instagram data today, and my homepage now shows (some of) those (older) posts intermixed with my more recent posts. The posts seem to have the correct date on them, they’re just kind of thrown in there.

@manton Honestly, that would be a great start. I’ve not really paid attention to Facebook (as a platform) for so long that I don’t even know what’s possible (or what all is in the exported data that you get from the download).

The thing that springs to mind is (and this is all assuming the export includes this data) a reference to the original message if I had commented on it. I think the same for the “like” aspect may be a step too far (for you). I saw something similar with my Twitter import, that the comments I made were out of context when the original post was not present.

@odd Totally agree…I was talking with my wife as we took my daughter back to school this past weekend. Someone summed it up like this: “They don’t like the change that has happened in the past 20-30 years (give or take). It makes them angry. Progress for others has not been progress for them. And they want things ‘back to the way they were’ when things were simpler for them.“

I can understand the feeling. I would venture to say we all wish things could go back to a simpler time that we felt comfortable in.

But that doesn’t mean you get to lash out at people and affect their lives for the worse. To me, that’s a thing we all learn (I hope) about being an adult. You don’t get everything you want, and you have to find a way to live with that disappointment. harsh, but true. If you can change it, absolutely do so. But NOT by harming others.
