@miljko Moving off of Apple has been on my mind lately, but they make it so hard to leave and easy to stay. Everything from Apple Photos with my family to FaceTime are all things nearly impossible to replace without replacing them for everyone. I’m all on board with org mode for tasks, but having trouble with using it for notes so sticking with Markdown for now.

@manton I was using GoodLinks but am using Linkwarden at the moment. I’m bad about actually going back to look at what I store and Linkwarden is more of a bookmarking than read it later service, but I do like that it archives pages you save. Wasn’t hard to self host either.

@manton I’ve tried just about every note taking app under the sun and moved to Apple Notes because I spent more time trying them all then using them. I like the idea of the versioning I had from committing changes to git, but I also don’t feel like I miss it. What do you find yourself using?

@jatowler I am wrapping up the fourth one right now and loving the whole series. The four books are really divided up into two separate two book series but unified by a very big meta plot. Just love how different it is from so many other visions of the future… @manton, the first one is a slow start, but you really need to get through the first two at least… it’s a wild ride.

@manton I really like the idea of the Supernote family of e-ink tablets. More sustainable and flexible while still being just for writing. The nomad has been out for awhile and may be a tad bit bigger but not by much. I’ve been finding a lot of use for my manta.

Listened to two great podcasts on tools that I enjoy using. The first was a Decoder episode with Steph Ango and the next with the CEO of Kagi on Mac Power Users. Both of them are passionate about what they do and want to make the products as good as they can for their users.

Drove to Ohio to see the eclipse back in April of last year, and it was a very memorable experience. Will never forget how the sky looked like sunset in every direction for those fleeting moments.

While hiking in Cuyahoga National Park, we met a park ranger who guided us down a small hidden canyon with some carvings in the rock face. Felt like we walked into a different world outside of time.

Day 22: “Hometown” 📷

There weren’t many things to see in my hometown but many fields of corn, wheat, and soybeans. This little drive goes back to the cemetery we lived near. It was a peaceful route to walk, and we enjoyed hiking through the woods back to the river beyond.

I went way back to 2011 to find this photo I took while in Greece. I remember this ferry ride that stopped by a few islands on its way to Patmos. Lovely sunset. The ride took hours, and I think we arrived sometime around 2am.

Hard to describe how this green sand in Hawaii felt, but it was definitely different from light fluffy white sand. Learned that there are only a few green sand beaches in the world. This one was quite the trek getting to.

@manton On the far end of the spectrum has to be godspeedapp.com that you can use without any mouse input at all. I think it does a good job of explaining the available hotkeys. I tend to use command palette’s in everything though–VS Code, Sublime Text, etc.
