@ljpuk @matt_birchler I don't know if they're in the UK, but I’ve had great luck with Swappa for electronics. They have a whole system for validating users, making sure listings are real by requiring that the the images with a handwritten note with the listing ID on it, and holding money until the transaction is complete.

I never logged into any Meta services with the glasses and don't use the AI features. They are basically nice Transitions sunglasses with headphones built in. I use the camera occasionally, but rarely (moving pics off of it with no Meta account is a chore)
Easily 99% of the \"tech\" i use in these is the headphones. Open air podcasts + sunglasses are a perfect combination.
Looking for non-Meta replacements, but nothing too expensive. I’m _really_ waiting on the rumored Apple glasses, but that's likely a year away, at least.

There is zero chance that iAd (if it had survived) would be the same today as it was back then, even if Jobs was still at the helm.

- TV and movies are hooked to the Trakt and TVDB APIs. watched status syncs both ways (Obsidian <-> Trakt), with metadata and images coming from TVDB
- Book metadata is from OpenLibrary, and notes are synced from my Kindle with Readwise (as they have been for years)
- Game data comes from IGDB
- Podcast data comes from my existing podcast notes, some from Snipd and some from a shortcut I use with Overcast.
I added some fun touches, like progress bars on TV seasons, background colors that tint based on the show art, and full support for Obsidian's wikilinking.

regardless of the custom player, there should be (IMO…)
- easy access to captions, enhanced dialog, alternate audio tracks, etc.
- standardized scrubbing controls (even in custom scrubbers), including support for click- and touchwheel- based navigation
- full parity in remote functions (like Siri access and skip-back with captions)
- full accessibility controls and settings
But in exchange, Apple needs to support custom implementations of things like alternate scrubbing thumbnails, custom next episode countdowns, pause-screen overlays, and other basic features that all the big streamers require in their apps.

I used to use LLMs to gather info from all my different silos and aggregate it. Now all my stuff is just in one place. Simple markdown and CSV files. Portable, local, and private.

The last few weeks have completely changed (for the better) the way I work. #Obsidian has always been enormously powerful and flexible, but with a little vibe-coding, I've truly made it my own. These plugins may never see the light of day outside of my vault, but they are _how I work_ now.
And if it all falls apart tomorrow, I still have a pile of text files, as I always did,
Fulcrum project manager, Quill journal, Repose media importer, Orbit people manager/CRM, and Pulse workout tracker and health importer.

\n@maya_b The problem is the biggest use of YouTube in our lives is either on my kid's iPad or me watching on the TV. No workaround I've ever tried has any reasonable parental control features or big-screen apps.
These hacky workarounds (I use PiHole) are great for one dude on a phone or a desktop. Anything beyond that and it all falls apart pretty quickly.

I’ve been eligible for an upgrade for over a year, but I keep putting it off because I don’t want to figure out how many things I need to re-set-up. Chrons, key bindings, background localhosts, node installs, brew packages, MCP servers… it’s gonna be a nightmare.
