@WiredDifferently Sure. I used Moo.com to print the cards, which are 4.13” x 5.83”. The quality is high. The price is high too. If I started selling more than a few cards a month, I would need to find a more economical way to produce them.

I have not done much to promote them or to “optimize” for Etsy discoverability.

\n

I use Avery 5292 labels and rigid kraft cardboard mailers, 6.25 x 8.25, for shipping. I buy the postage via Etsy which creates the shipping label to print. (I tried labeling and buying postage at the post office, but it’s easier to use Etsy and then you get tracking.)

Hope that’s helpful. It’s been a fun project, one you can start small.

@marc0janssen Hi Marco, I understand what you are going through! There has never been an easy answer. I always suggest engaging with other people’s posts so they get to know you. But it sounds like you are doing that.

I left my post at Micro.blog two years ago, but I still believe in the importance of independent blogs on the web. I started posting on Substack because I’ve found a community of like-minded women writers, but I still add my Substack essays to my Micro.blog to be ready for that inevitable day when the commercial algorithmic BS makes me quit that platform like I did Facebook and Twitter.

I also cross-post to Mastodon, where I am engaged with mostly old friends from Twitter, and I can get a few likes if I need them. 😉

\n

My sense, based on knowing microbloggers who have been active for many years, is that they treat it as an online journal that occasionally gets comments, instead of a social media arena with followers and likes.

An update on Biggish Log after a weekend of sneaker wave activity. It’s moved 110 ft from where it was last week. (You can see the path of What3Words pins.) There are bigger King Tides to come, and I predict it will end up buried in the dunes like Big Log.
