for production we use esbuild to do the same thing. in that case we use some esbuild magic to turn `adopt` into an identity function and end up tree shaking it out of the bundle.

obviously my own import attribute loader isn't required since we're doing it without that feature, but it'd make it a lot nicer!
@zachleat @gundersen @mxbck fully agree about build steps vs servers β other than static file servers, i avoid servers at almost all costs, so i would probably skip cloudflare and write some sort of command line tool to do the preprocessing myself. but the key thing here is that it still works without a build step *or* a server (it'll just be less efficient because it needs to request the other files at runtime)

i think service workers are actually *more* useful for static sites with no backend. they might not be that helpful for, say, a mastodon client (bc the HTTP requests to get and post toots still need the network). but that SVG tool doesn't make any requests so it works great offline

i still check them because every once in a while i come across a gem like @hacdiasβs website (which is lovely!) but the signal-to-noise ratio is extremely low
