\nGood review. Thanks for helping me see that part of what nagged at me was his lack of a positive vision. For example, tell us more about your homestead! Maybe that wasn’t the point of his book but I think that’s why I kept comparing him unfavorably to Wendell Berry, who presents a much more positive (if also elegiac) vision.
