I would concur; try to heat shrink and/or butt splice the wires. You can get a cheap package of them at any auto parts store, and you probably want the red ones for the smallest gauge. Though you also need a crimped (might be built into your stripper). It’s almost certainly fine (since they get used), but I would ensure that you don’t have any live wires from the car side that are among those left dangling. Typically red or yellow. I added a CarPlay to my 1986 van and it’s such a great roadtrip perk.

\nWhipped up an interface prototype for a project that’s been very fun to hack on. This is a Linux computer with a 1.14-inch color screen on which you can (rudimentarily) enter text.
