@samfr.bsky.social There are good foundations, such as the apprenticeship levy, which can be used to make training more central to employment. Ironically I think we have gone backwards here: restricting Level 7’s to those under 21 (when it’s masters degree equivalent) is silly. 24 would be better.

@ianbetteridge.com I went to a polytechnic which had an excellent aero engineering degree course. There was a close relationship with BAe, which had its main factory nearby. Work experience was arranged, the the poly benefited from the experience of front-line engineers.

I wrote just a few months ago that I firmly believe generative AI tools not only can be, but already are, used to create genuine art. My problem with AI slop isn’t the AI, it’s the slop.
