The good thing about being in a project with a bunch of Swedes is that I can speak my own language in meetings (Norwegian and Swedish are close enough for us to understand each other). The downside is the time difference, so my morning meeting starts at 07:45 :-)

@crossingthethreshold I had the strangest experience back when I learned Portuguese. My native tongue is Norwegian, and English is also very familiar to me. My third language was German, and I clearly remember going on a work trip to Munich, and wanting to respond to someone in German, but the words that came out were in Portuguese. It had to a large extent replaced the sport that German had.

Nowadays speaking Portuguese is a natural thing, but while understanding German is OK, I never got back to speaking it comfortably. Maybe now would be a good time.

After 20 odd years of living and working outside my home country (Norway), I am now in a project with 2 Swedes. It feels great (and strange) to have meetings where I can speak my native tongue. (Swedish and Norwegian are similar enough for us to easily understand each other)
