@joplinapp is an amazing #NoteTakingApp which I've been using for the past 1 and a half year already!
After migrating out from #AppleNotes, I've tried other alternatives and, by far, Joplin was the best for me, for its simplicity yet feature rich.
I use it for quick notes, but also to write long texts.
It's easy to organize and search for your notes, and the tag system is very handy, specially to group scattered notes!
I really recommend it to everyone!

Man, this is beautiful and huge! I'm adding this sentence to my diary, as I can relate to it a lot, and could never point it out this clear!
I went to college and graduated, but I haven't take a M.Sc or a B.Sc, and I feel the same way as you. And by transition, I can imagine the same feeling bubbling up the degree levels. And I think if someone take a PhD and act like they know it all, it's hell of an arrogant. But I believe PhD people can also feel like knowing nothing, and feel like fraud as well.
The hesitation you feel, which I feel it too, is a mix of vanity and self preservation. Vanity because I'm sure you want to deliver to people high quality stuff and know that no matter how deep you go, you could always go deeper.
Self preservation because we live in a very predatory system. A mean person (and unfortunately we're surrounded by them, specially in big companies) can take advantage of our own miss takes.
@newsgroup yes, if they want to follow that way! That's what they've paid for!
But honestly I don't think most customers would want that. They're customers, not competitors. But even if competitors, we know that software isn't everything in a company.
Let's go to the absurd here. Imagine this is the software market. Imagine you've paid for Windows XP, and got its source code. How long would you take to understand it and do the upgrades yourself? Surely even competitors would be always behind.
At certain point you would paid to upgrade to any Windows in the future, because of need.
This is closer to how automobile industry works. When you need spare parts you can go original or parallel market.
I mean, I don't have all answers. And I'm not even saying my answers are correct. I'm just having fun wondering all that and having this discussion! π
