\nWe couldn’t have asked for a more perfect way to spend my son’s birthday at the ballpark on Friday. The Tigers didn’t win, but the weather was flawless, the overpriced food was fun, there was an impressive fireworks show to cap off the night, and we saw the northern lights on the way home.

Time is a flat circle. Now we need someone to bring back T9 with physical cases. I’m sure my muscle memory would get me back to typing out T9 messages in no time. Who knows how many hours I spent perfecting the art in middle school and high school so I could sneakily type under the desk without looking.

Much of the stuff I look back at and am unimpressed with is because it has little relevance today or to me personally. However, whether it’s writing about consumer technology or taking photographs for a local news story—those words and images meant something at the time and served to inform people in some way or another. They just aren’t lasting, which I believe is the reality of much day-to-day news (how much of the daily newspaper gets forgotten within 48 hours, let alone years down the road). At the time, it served a reasonable purpose to inform or inspire (more often than not, at least in my case), but the lasting power is minimal. It can be frustrating at times, but it did serve its purpose at the time and, hopefully, kept others well informed in some capacity, which is a worthwhile endeavor in and of itself, even if it doesn’t seem impressive in retrospect.

A wonderful suggestion from Allen Pike I needed to hear, particularly going into 2024. I certainly don’t mind knowing a little bit about a lot (I feel like being a jack-of-all is my MO), but I do burn unnecessary amounts of time perusing through superficial information that doesn’t pay quality dividends relative to the time investment.

\nSpent some time tinkering around with this old thrift store find that needed a bit of work. The front lens cover had some fungus on the inside. A heat gun, a cheap metal pick, and a quick cleaning later solved the problem.
\nNow to put some film through this lovely little 35mm point-and-shoot.

Interesting on it being slow. LR flies, even on my rather humble M1 Mac Mini (entry-level, but 16GB of RAM). Even faster than LRC for me. But I have massive libraries. Still no printing options, but I’ve always gone through Photoshop when I’ve printed, so that’s never bothered me. But it’s definitely a killer for some.

While I’m not completely converted yet and there are still some features I’d like to see brought over or added new, it’s clear Adobe is starting to wind down LRC.
