But in this case, Kingsnorth does have a path forward, and he and his family has taken it. I think a more Wendell Berry-like description might have been welcomed by his readers. Nevertheless, I have come to the conclusion, as a result of a decade plus of social media, that whipping up the masses with anger and anxiety is not a responsible way of using one’s powers of communication. However, I do suspect you’ll like the book, despite its orthodox Christian foundation and culture wars attacks.
