They would fail any reasonable market demand test. Steve Jobs and the G4 Cube is one good example. But my favorite is Jeff Bezos and the Kindle Oasis, and previously the Kindle Voyage. The Paperwhite is a near perfect product at $99. The Oasis is 10% for 3x the price.

The only playback data I have traditionally monitored is the self reported variety. Every month since 2011, I have casually made a playlist in Spotify with what impacted me that month. For the first time since then I missed a month this February due to lack of time and focus (damn kids). I've consciously decided to appreciate that miss as a metric unto itself and not worry too much about it.
