The things they care about are more superficial. Another example, Musk had to misbehave a lot before I started hating my Tesla. But I still drive it, because none of the other EVs are anywhere near as good and I already have all this money sunk into it. Should I pay big bucks so I’m not driving around in a fascist car? Well I decided not yet, not until there’s something out there that I lust after. But I don’t have body work done on the damage I do to it, and there are a lot of dents on this baby. \nI have a Twitter account which is useful for keeping track of the WordPress community – it seems they use everything other than WordPress to share info. I’m trying to encourage them to use RSS by starting wp.feedland.org/. There is some hope.
\nEach resignation has a cost, and it’s really hard to see any return for making the investment. In the case of GitHub I can’t imagine whata would be better. Yes I know it’s owned by Microsoft, but if you all switch to something else, how long before that is owned by Oracle or Salesforce, or something Elon Musk owns. It’s very hard for the startup people to resist the offer when it comes.
\nImnsho – it would be better if people could working together on building interop on the web, so peopld could build nice useful systems that are more powerful than anything the BigCentralizedCos could make on their own. That’s how we really win, not with symbolic moves, but by doing things that really matter.
