@manton.org So far, I’m appreciating my choice to give micro.blog as shot instead of going into one of the busy Mastodon instances. Seems to be working pretty well for me, and I’m reading and writing posts here and seeing them show up on Mastodon and Twitter.

The rumor that Apple is going to get rid of the word “Hey” in “Hey Siri” is not a welcome one to me. Words like “history” already trigger Siri more than I’d like. I can only imagine the false positives to come

@simon I was trying to explain the fediverse to my daughter yesterday. I think email might be more relatable to folks. They probably use gmail, but probably also know folks who use an icloud address or a comcast one, but they understand that they can send messages to people in any of those places.

I’m assuming no one on #mastodon (#fediverse) has 1M followers, let alone 10s of millions as some on Twitter do.

I wonder how it would scale. Is it mostly a load problem on the server hosting that big account?

@jacob I don’t think I’ve ever used QTs to dunk, but I’ve definitely seen plenty of that. I miss them here for exactly the reason you cite.

Nice to see a new version of the Longform plugin for Obsidian. I think Obsidian has the potential to be a truly amazing environment for writing novels.

Likely my last #fediverse meta-post for the day: I don’t plan to stop using Twitter right now, because I actually like some of the features and interactions I get from it. But I’ve always like the idea of owning my own content and being in control of the experience.

Apparently, some folks are moving from Twitter to Substack. I don’t get that, because it’s a completely different model. I’d hate 100 daily emails. Am I missing something?
