Flash Flood Warning is out down the I-26 corridor into downtown, James & Johns, Mt. Pleasant, DI, and North Charleston as very heavy rain is approaching right around high tide. Given earlier downpours downtown, it won’t take much for renewed issues to occur.

Storms with heavy rain and gusts to 50 MPH will head down I-26 over the next hour or so. Heads up soon in Summerville, by 9:45 in North Charleston, by 9:55 downtown, heading to the coast by about 10:15 or so.

Heaviest rain is moving onto James Island now. Some gauges downtown have recorded 1-1.5” of rain in a very short period; can expect similar results as this moves over James Island and down the Stono. Flood advisory continues for downtown.

Downtown rain rates are impressive. NWS notes that almost ¾” of rain has fallen at The Citadel in ten minutes’ time. This is certainly enough to put some water on roads. Avoid flooded roads and please send reports of what you’re seeing!
