@cjhubbs No, I wasn’t. In fact, for the 20-years prior, I was a member at our local non-denominational community church. But, a season of feeling restless and quite frankly, too comfortable, I spent a year reading, studying, and learning about the Catholic Church which then led me to start participating in my first mass last year.

I’m still not confirmed in the church which means I’m still not fully participating in the mass (I don’t receive the Eucharist) but I’ve been blessed nonetheless.

I hope the upcoming move goes as smoothly as possible.

It’s been a year since I first attended Sunday Mass at my local Catholic parish.

At the time, I was initially drawn to Orthodoxy. But living in the suburbs, with no Orthodox churches within a reasonable drive, I found my way to the Catholic Church instead.

I’m sick enough that I should follow up with an urgent care visit today but not well enough to go and sit in the waiting room to be seen. I would use a telehealth visit as an alternative, but I did that at the start of the week and was told to follow up with urgent care if things got worse.

Speaking of First Things, I’ve actually been thinking about getting a subscription again (it’s been years) but I also have Comment and Plough in the consideration set for my 2026 subscriptions. I’m still debating which one to pick. Of course, I guess an option to is to get all three.
