@Rongwrong thankfully, I’ve only encountered polite disagreement… but the conversation(s) just became too much to continue online. It’s the posts/comments/discussions that have a negative overall connotation that get me. One can have an altering opinion without the need to just be negative for negativity’s sake.

@Ddanielson interesting. I just did an interview with @terrygrier regarding smart phones and “all or nothing” — it is true that each person has the choice, but, as @JMaxB mentioned, if there is an addiction to the technology, a more radical approach might be necessary.

@terrygrier I agree that the “wisephone” product still seems too much like a smart phone in look and how it’s used. I do like the clean design of the interface, though.

Totally agree about maps app. A couple of months ago I was bringing my son out for a treat. I knew the frozen yogurt place was SOMEWHERE near us, but couldn’t find it. We were walking around, and I stopped in to a store to ask someone. The worker didn’t know, but one of the shoppers did. Real human interaction. It was great.

@tkoola when I ditched my “smart” phone for a simple/basic wise phone, I looked into getting a land-line. Unfortunately, they don’t install them anymore! We ended up getting a home phone that is serviced through our internet company.

@JMaxB thanks for the feedback! @terrygrier I was looking at flip phones before I decided on the light. One thing, for me, that I was very adamant on was not wanting a camera. I couldn’t find a flip without one. I actually purchased a Mudita Pure first (top choice!) but the wait to receive the phone was long (and unknown) and I paid a pretty penny for it. Ultimately, the light had an amazing promotion running at the time, so I went with that one instead and cancelled my pure order.

I am not a gardener. My house plants die, and I don’t do well in the flower beds outside. I was never one to like the “manicured look.” However, my husband and I are learning more about sustainable gardening and food forests. We started composting this year, and I am enjoying learning more about medicinal herbs and plants for health and wellness. I am looking forward to how our property will change over the next few years.

About 15 years ago I enjoyed attempting artful photographs on my digital camera and posting them to Flickr. Once the “smart” phone became more popular, the art of photography shifted and lost its “specialness”, in my opinion. This past summer I got rid of my “smart” phone and go a Light phone. No camera, no internet, no noise. Just basic call and text. If I am out and see something I would want to take a picture of, I remember that I don’t have a device in my bag to do so, and simply enjoy it with my eyes and hope to remember what I saw (or what I felt when I was looking at it).

There is nothing like a walk through the woods to fill oneself with peace. Bonus points if there is a creek or river to walk beside.

I love the idea of pen and paper. I love holding and smelling the physical paper… the aesthetic… however, as an aspiring minimalist, I don’t love the paper clutter… and I prefer typing rather writing with a pen. I’m not overly enthusiastic about my handwriting, and I like the neatness in typing. I used to keep journals, and in my early decluttering stages, after reading through them, I got rid of them. I processed my life through writing… but now I wanted to live in the present, not hold on to my past.

I took my daily walk to the mailbox this evening as dusk came over the woods. It’s been snowing on and off all week, and I’m not upset about it. I love how quiet the world is when there is snow. I stopped and listened to the silence, broken only by an owl hooting. Winter is coming.

full day. stressful at times, but ultimately a joy-filled day with friends and family. Worshiping with Church family, Christmas choir practice, birthday party, and Friendsgiving. A beautiful day to spend Sabbath. Entering a new week with my cup full.

The snow didn’t disappoint. Enough to dust the pine trees, but leave the road merely wet. A wonderful introduction to the season. What could have made this peaceful day even better? A sightly visit from the Barred Owl, and our turkey friends (who come multiple times per week). Check.
