@drwalt Well, I think you’re right in the sense that MB seems to be a more personal place to blog. I’m not seeing a lot of “think/reaction/opinion” pieces here. I read from Substack if I can (i.e. no paywall), but I won’t write on it. I see Substack as a place to write where people want to establish a following/reputation and make a living doing it, so it’s more commercial to me. I guess it comes down to how much you want people to react to what you write.

Watched the inaugural game of the Womens Professional Baseball League last night. The game was played under some of the worst conditions I’ve ever seen for a ballgame. The LA Queens came back in the 7th (last) inning to win 10-8 over the NY Heights. Great job, ladies!

@isaacgreene I’m also grateful that NY Gov. Hochul issued an executive order establishing a moratorium on building data centers in the state for one year. It’s a small window to better prepare. Of course, she issued the executive order rather than sign the more stringent legislation passed by both houses of the NY Legislature, but something is better than nothing.

@isaacgreene This is the very heart of the issue that most proponents of AI will willfully stay ignorant about. I avoid AI like the plague. But in my neck of the woods, an abandoned golf course sitting on the shore of Lake Erie about 15 miles to the west has been eyed by a data center company. And a former power plant right in the city has been sold to a company that, among other things, prepares sites for potential data centers. I may begin accelerating the process of moving elsewhere.
