\n\nI don't have a general response to the former but, for me, the main motivation for switching to Chrome OS from a traditional desktop operating system was the realization I was living in Chrome anyway and I no longer used local software.
\n\nAs for large Chrome OS local storage, one of the main reasons Google provides so much on its Pixelbooks (up to 512 GB) is likely to run Android Studio on Linux. 64 GB may have ben enough for my current cloud needs. But in my country there's a very limited selection of Chrome OS devices and configuration, so the Chromebox I wanted was available only with 256 GB SSD, which was okay as I also wanted to future-proof the system in case I needed more Android or Linux apps.
