@iainhepburn.me I think LDR scheme capture by large commercial media orgs makes point for me too, tbh. If you have a robust definition of public interest media and a clear idea of what public cash could achieve (plurality, local accountability, high editorial standard etc) these orgs wouldn’t qualify to host LDRs.

@iainhepburn.me FWIW I think “trusted” media is the wrong framing. Public interest would be better - and I’d tie it very firmly to clear ownership model criteria & strong independent regulation. This wld have the unfortunate effect of ruling out much commercial media but - as you note - why give them public cash?
