@Bronwyn No mailers, I don’t think. Though I clock those and put them in the recycler even before I get to my apartment.

I also use nerdy whole-network as blockers and only ever pay for the no-ad version of streaming services. Of course, I only ever pay for one at a time because who can afford that, but it helps.

@Bronwyn Nope, that’s storage. Not RAM. RAM is the super fast memory that the computer uses to store the things it’s working on right now. Storage is where it holds its long term memory. You have 256 right now, not 356, and the iPad I linked to also has 256, so you’re fine there.

@Bronwyn Given what I understand of your use case, a refurb like this is a good fit.

The one downside is that it doesn’t have as much RAM as the current generation, which means it could theoretically miss out on some future features. But those future features are probably all AI related, so unless you’re really hoping for that, this is a good deal.

@samvarma It’s a valid reason for concern. However, an alternate name for UBI is “universal minimum income.” In these systems, it’s still expected that most people will work for wages, so the net effect of any regime ripping this away would be somewhat muted, though still a major concern.

I think the strongest check on this system, though, would simply be its popularity. If Obama had instead managed to implement actual universal healthcare, it would by now be so popular and so unambiguously good for people that ripping it away would cause a truly massive political shockwave.

I’m thinking about replacing the P pickup in my Mustang bass with something that might get me more mid range growl and bite. Of course, being a short scale bass, I’m hampered by physics.

Is this a dumb idea? Should I just get a Jazz bass of some kind instead?
