@ayjay I love Trollope on money. Have you read Ayala’s Angel? (mild spoilers) – For me the Imogen/ Frank subplot is my favourite expression of Trollope’s love vs money theme, because they (unexpectedly for me, given it’s Trollope) make the romantic choice, but I feel the reader is left with such a heavy sense of authorial cynicism and pessimism about it that it’s quite unromantic.
