@peteskerritt.com Of the NES, Genesis, and SNES consoles and games in my library… all of the consoles, and about 80% of the games, were funded through trade-ins via culling of games for other consoles that had basically been mothballed. It was redirecting money I’d spent since 2012 more than new cash out of pocket.

@peteskerritt.com It wasn’t “the end”, but it was getting harder to find games I didn’t already have– and the fun of the chase, of building a library of games for a console(s), was ebbing.

I needed a jolt, a reset point. Getting the NES was that jolt. It (and the initial set of games I got) was all store credit.

@peteskerritt.com I had been on the fence with Dreamcast for some time. It’s barely been touched since before lockdown. I just never felt motivated to fire it up.

Very few are buying new PS5 consoles, and Sony just limited sales of its software to create less revenue. Smooth brains all around.

@peteskerritt.com There’s one pricey problem with exclusives in 2026: Ain’t nobody paying $650 (or $900) to play an exclusive PS5 game, so Sony isn’t going to pick up any hardware sales for exclusivity.

@peteskerritt.com The grimdark exclusives don’t appeal to me, and that’s all Sony has. It’s not like the colorful– dare I say fun– exclusives of PlayStation eras past. Multiplats run fine enough on Series X, where I have more data storage… and Arcade Archives are on Switch/2.

@peteskerritt.com Even as an original PlayStation-first guy back then (and still today), I see plenty of value in N64 and its library— which is obviously bolstered by the first-party biggies like Mario 64 and Ocarina.

I finished the Air Twister campaign today. Still quite a bit to unlock, but I think I’m good for now after a recent flurry of playing time. It definitely (and randomly) grew on me.
