Having a recent walk around Edmonds and using my Nikon Z30 camera taking “straight out of the camera” photos. I’m just using the Vivid emulation and transferring the jpeg image to my iPhone using SnapBridge.

I’ve just finished listening to the audio book version of “The Frozen People” by Elly Griffiths. There’s a new book in this series coming out in a few weeks and I presume it will essentially complete the story of what happens to the time travelling heroine!

I’m glad that modern navigation systems are available as this ferry heads across the Sound to Kingston. And there’s a whale watching boat out there today. I’m not sure there’s going to be a lot to see for those paying customers!

I am happy to be using film emulators for straight out of camera photography. Here are a couple of examples both taken with my Nikon Z 50ii camera. The left shot is a Portra variation and the right is a Kodachrome. These were taken on different days with different lens so not exactly a scientific study!

Too bad the Ivory app for Mastodon hasn’t (so far at least) been made available for Bluesky. I’m curious about what impact this company that started out with a very nice Twitter app could make on the increasingly popular Bluesky. There are, of course, already alternatives to the official app.

@tibz I thought “The Substance” was about 40 minutes too long. Other than that it’s a fairly entertaining movie with a message. People should be warned about pretty intense “body horror” in this one however.

@BestofTimes I have been using it for about 18 months and I also use Bear. Standard Notes is encrypted both in transit and at rest on your device. They take this stuff extremely seriously. For a better MacOS experience you’d want Bear with ( to my mind) better tagging & look/feel.

@jemostrom I can deal with omissions. I am using the camera with a wide angle light prime which helps with getting sharp photos without ibis. I’m getting used to composing with lcd display and it is mainly problematic in bright sunlight but it helps that camera focus show green square on focus .

@bsag Thanks for your concern. Interestingly enough I suspect my mouse usage exacerbates the issue so I have been known to use dictation on occasion or (as right now) to take advantage of Apple’s algorithm for fixing typos or word suggestions during iPhone writing.

@Munish I have just traded a couple of my little used zoom lenses for a Nikon Z30 to be my walking around camera. It is very lightweight and I have it paired with the Nikkor Z 26mm pancake lens. No regrets coming from full frame Nikon Z 6ii which I still own and use.
