watched Super Mario Galaxy. The kids liked it and had a great time at the movies, and therefor so did Linn and I. However purely as a movie it’s almost offensively mediocre. Minimal plot, no real character moments, just a bunch of noise.

\nI’d like to question that claim. This video is very informative as a whole and the rough math, starting at 14:52, says that Teslas with Full Self Driving is almost ten times more likely (per mile driven) to kill a human, as compared to an actual human driver.
\nGranted, the video is almost two years old and it’s possible that things have improved enormously the past 24 month, but I doubt it.

(He has lived in Sweden for 20+ years and speaks fluent Swedish.) However, when we listened to the Turkish version - which sounded fine to me since I don’t speak a word of Turkish - he said that had he not already known that there was AI involved he wouldn’t have thought that there was anything weird about the voice.
\nMaybe different languages are more or less complex for an AI to imitate, or maybe there’s more training data available for Turkish than Swedish, or a combination of the two.

It’s probably going to take decades before Europe trusts the US again. Canada being annexed as the 51st state is probably, definitely, absolutely not an actual issue but here in Europe we have a well-founded fear of Russia and the US now clearly communicates that we can’t trust them to provide us any support. Article 5 of NATO might actually not mean anything anymore.
\nWe, Europe, will learn from this and built up our own abilities for defense and for trade and we will sidestep the US. As Donald Tusk said, it’s silly idea in the long term that “500 million Europeans ask[s] 300 million Americans to protect them from 140 million Russians.” ‘Murica has lost so much of its soft power in the world, and that will only worsen for the next four years.
