\n@hollie Wow, your mention of the Ashford spindle gave me quite the frisson. ~50 years ago I was teaching German to teenagers in Ashburton, home of Ashford wheels and looms. One time they asked me to translate something or other from German to English for them. A fun thing was I had to ask the woodwork teacher to help because the German word was self explanatory (some kind of screw or something, I don’t recall now). I described what the German word was saying and he said: yeah that’s a [English word I now don’t recall].
