Caught off guard by the passing of Steve Albini. The sounds he captured on record had a monumental impact on my musical formation in the early 90’s. He made some of my favorite artists sound like themselves, which is about the best thing an engineer/producer can do. May his memory be eternal. 😔

@help My blog has been trying to publish changes for two hours. Seem to be looping, trying new servers, etc.. I simply removed my custom template with microhooks (Tiny Theme) and tried to update. It’s said “Publishing latest changes to your blog” since. Any idea what’s happening/how to fix it?

So, All Born Screaming is fantastic. Front to back, my favorite thing Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) has ever done. Echoes of Nine Inch Nail, Talking Heads, & David Bowie are all here, but this record sounds like nothing more than Clark at her most creatively liberated. Highly Recommended!🎵

@rcrackley In the opinion of this semi-professional listener, it’s a real gem of a record. Also, I think 8 tracks is the perfect length for an album. There are, of course, longer records that are amazing, but 8 well-sequenced and solid songs always feels like a little marvel.

What I found completing about this article was the idea that if we reduce activism to protest, especially in response to deeply rooted and systemic issues, we are likely to find ourselves headed for burnout and tempted to despair. But when we broaden our activism, maybe even giving privilege to more practical actions, however small and unnoticed they may be, we are more likely (for a whole host of reasons) to actually begin to effect the positive change we want to see in our own little spheres of influence…which generally are significantly smaller than the internet might lead us to believe.

@BenSouthwood So I enjoy all their 80’s records, but for me their creative peak was Violator and SofaD, with Ultra as a very good, could of been great if Alan Wilder hadn’t left the band, comedown. After that, their output has been, generously, spotty at best. After one listen, this new record feels different… much more like that late 80’s early 90’s heyday than anything since. Not every song is great, but it feels like a band that knows who they are and what they’re doing. It’s very satisfying as a fan.

@BenSouthwood I think it’s the least over-thought record of their career. They’re in the midst of touring Achtung, Baby, playing one of the most ambitious stadium shows ever produced, clearly at their artistic peak… and they somehow turned out this weird masterpiece. I love it so much.
