AppleCare One Family Launched and it says only 7 of our 14 devices can be covered. I can see one exception which is one of our AirPods is over 1 year old but it’s not showing two Apple Watches, one AppleTV, one HomePod or my wife’s M5 MBP.

Biggest surprise / complaint - Apple Watch didn’t get Nano-Texture treatment this year. Every Apple device family has a nano-texture option now except Apple Watch. I hope Ultra 5 and iPhone X2 (20th anniversary) get nano-texture.

It was not a low-spend Apple year though. 16” MacBook Pro M5 Max + 14” MacBook Pro M5 Pro which were huge purchases. Two iPhone 17 Pros last year so no upgrades planned. iPads are both M4 powered and both of us have AirPods Pro 4. Next year will be iPhone upgrades.

Last year, you could still purchase Hermes leather Apple Watch straps on their website. That appears to have changed this year. No Apple Watch accessories on their site anymore at all, exclusively Apple which means nothing leather, all cloth / metal. :(

I will say, the logic changes for folks that keep their devices longer. BestBuy is capped at 2 years then switches to Apple’s monthly price. If you keep iPads, iPhones, watches for 4 years, this become more compelling but you need a LOT of devices. So at least a 4-person household.

Happy to eat my fist on this one but an iPhone foldable phone with a price that exceeds $1,999 starting price is DOA. It’s going to perform just like the iPhone Air in sales. Too many compromises and far in excess of what people can afford. Apple has to forgo some margin to sell these in volume.

@lakelady that’s the rumor but these are truly insane price updates like the AppleTV was the most expensive streaming box at $129 and it went up to even more and it’s a 4 year old device.

@gruber - I’ve been using that zoom feature for what feels like decades. I use the command key instead since it’s more natural but dozens of times an hour I use it.

@bobwertz I do as well, funnily Kyalami green was a $0 option on builds and it’s the other colors (white, black, grey, red) that cost $600 extra. Of the 47 or so that sold nationwide in 2025, only 5 were green so it’s a pretty low-volume color. Perfect for a sunday-driver (not going to be my daily)
