The fall time change is easier to deal with because you gain an hour. And last year at this time I was still coming off parental leave.

So we haven’t *really* had to deal with daylight savings time changes with a small child yet. I’m *not* looking forward to Monday morning.

@mdrockwell I think daylight savings time is stupid, it doesn’t need to be light outside at 9pm or later. And I’ve heard numerous coworkers mention they can’t get their young kids to go to sleep because that messes with their circadian rhythm. I even find it effects me too.

@peterimoore yeah, it’s terrible. Anything it attempts to solve could probably be better addressed with something else.

@mdrockwell the solution is to keep it on standard time and abolish the clock change. It was a fuel cost savings measure used by Kaiser Wilhelm in Germany during World War I. I’m pretty sure that war is over now...

@peterimoore I’ve lived in Alaska where the light changes are somewhat extreme, regardless of daylight savings, and in California where they were not dramatic. In Seattle, they are significant enough and the main thing is I would like to do away with the changes.

@Pilchuck @mdrockwell Agreed, the main thing is just to stop doing this pointless exercise. It’s been medically researched to be unhealthy, and even the rate of accidents increases the first couple of weeks after the clock changes in both directions, but especially to DST.

@mdrockwell I'll be very glad to see Daylight Saving Time go. (I don't care whether they decide to make ST or DST official, as long as it stays the same all year.) We lived in Indiana for five years at a time when our county stayed on Standard Time all year. It was simple, no one complained of any problem.

@JMaxB Mitch Daniels complained, and that's what mattered. It's one of relatively few things I hold against him.
