It has been more than 20 years since I worked in a Borders bookstore, and I still cannot bear having unflushed bookshelves.
@JMaxB Yep—standard practice across all Borders stores, and a key indicator of whether the booksellers were maintaining their sections properly. We all had it drilled into us, to the point where "flushing shelves" was just something we did walking around the shop.
