@dominikhoecht I think you'll like to hear Lyle Mays' music. www.youtube.com/watch

@paulopinto @dominikhoecht I’ve been meaning to listen to Lyle Mays for years. Thanks for the reminder. Two of my favourite pianists (Brad Mehldau and Esbjörn Svensson) have also played with Pat Metheny.

@paulopinto I tend to like the pianists who were influenced by Bley (including Jarrett) more than Bley’s own playing. Other favourites of mine are Enrico Pieranunzi, John Taylor (RIP), Marcin Wasilewski and Benedikt Jahnel.

@artkavanagh Jarret is a reference also for me. But I was lucky enough to hear many (for me) unknown pianists in my town's Jazz Festival, for the last 27 years. I remember Sophia Domancich, Kenny Barron, among others.

@paulopinto I’ve got recordings by Domancich (with Simon Goubert and Jean-Jacques Avenel) and Kenny Barron. I used to go to a festival in Capbreton (SW France) where I heard Mulgrew Miller (RIP), Dado Moroni and Pieranunzi (whom I’ve also heard in Paris, twice, and Amsterdam). It must be nice to have a festival so close to home but I also enjoy travelling to them. Ran Blake is someone I’ve never managed to get into, though I know he’s widely admired.
