September 10, 2022 - From my August trip. The sign on the right has a red car and a black car, which I guessed was ‘cars can’t drive next to each other’. It’s a ‘no passing’ sign (used in the UK and I assume other countries), but never seen a no passing sign like this in America

@val Yeah, no overtaking! Do you not have signs like that in US?

@val They are everwhere here! Usually every time the road has a lane going each way, and the line on the road goes from broken to solid, there's one of these. No overtaking. When the line stops being solid, another one like it with a line across it. Can overtake. I've seen these in a ton of other countries as well.

@omrrc We do have 'no overtaking' or 'no passing' signs, but the one which comes to mind has only text on it and no picture. it's white and reads DO NOT PASS

@maique Interesting to know! I wonder what the case is in other North American or South American countries. That might help me figure out if that sign is an Americas vs the rest of the world thing or something that specifically the USA is an oddball with (like imperial/customary measurement systems....)

@val It would be fun if it said “NONE SHALL PASS”!
