👨‍💻 In high school, junior year, I took a computer science elective. I learned BASIC and then Turbo Pascal. For extra credit, we could watch Computer Chronicles, Saturdays on PBS, and write up a summary. I loved that show.
@zorn We didn’t have computer classes in HS. In my senior year, we got a desk calculator. As a freshman at Drexel, they didn’t have a CS degrees, but they did have a couple of classes which I took.
@zorn I learned BASIC about that same grade, and Scandis Pascal a little later (on a CP/M computer with Turtle Graphics, which were fun!) then Turbo Pascal after that, (version 3.x). Did you know that the guy who made Turbo Pascal also helped Microsoft shape C#?
