@Miraz Nice pictures! The beak is fairly large for it’s head, but if you catch fish, I guess that’s a pro. Beauty nonetheless.

@jayeless @lmika @odd @purisubzi @martinfeld It's a native Kōtare, Sacred Kingfisher. Size is comparable to a chubby blackbird I guess. I think that one must live in our yard as it hangs out here a lot.

@Miraz Beautiful! Its general build (not its markings) reminds me of our North American Belted Kingfisher, one of my favorites. The seemingly oversized head & beak make me think of kingfishers as cartoon characters brought to life.
