@Miraz What a beautiful little bird! Do you know what type it is?

@Miraz Nice pictures! The beak is fairly large for it’s head, but if you catch fish, I guess that’s a pro. Beauty nonetheless.

@Miraz Very nice photo. Would be curious to know more about the specie of kingfisher this is. It's hard to tell, but it looks like a reasonably small bird.

@Miraz Aww, he looks like he knows it, too!

@jayeless @lmika @odd @purisubzi @martinfeld It's a native Kōtare, Sacred Kingfisher. Size is comparable to a chubby blackbird I guess. I think that one must live in our yard as it hangs out here a lot.

@Miraz Beautiful! Its general build (not its markings) reminds me of our North American Belted Kingfisher, one of my favorites. The seemingly oversized head & beak make me think of kingfishers as cartoon characters brought to life.

@JMaxB Ah, I can see the similarities. Yes, they are a bit cartoonish. 😀

@alexink I see it out there in the same spot or one other favourite spot quite often. It's a delight. 😀
