From the Prepper File: It’s come to this. DIY home haircut trimmer delivered. I’m not quite there yet, but soon. It’s made by Remington and it has it’s own vacuum/hair collection chamber. The weakest link in this mad scheme is me.

@bradenslen I’ve been hair-prepping since 2002. Although I don’t have the most exciting, (or good-looking), haircut in the world, I know, that as long as I got electricity to charge it, I can get a haircut whenever I like, no waiting, and I can get any haircut I like, (within the range “army” to “crazy”).

The cutter that I bought (last, I’ve had three), was about two hairdresser appointments worth), so I’ve probably also saved around $5000.

@odd @bradenslen same! I have a shaved head to mid-back length hair growth cycle that takes three years. Have likely similarly saved a few thousand dollars over the years (which I spent on books).

Welcome to the tribe, Brad!

@odd @kitt Wow you have been doing the haircut thing for a longtime! I wanted to get a Flowbee kit during the first lockdown earlier in the year but they were completely sold out and have not come back in stock. This time I want to be prepared.

I figure "army" buzz cut is my backup in case I mess up.

@bradenslen Good luck with the new gizmo. My hair is shaggy enough that I’m about to bite the bullet and ask my husband to snip off a few inches for me.

@Cheri It's got to be easier having somebody else do the cutting. What we need is a robot that can cut hair while leaving things like ears alone. That would be a good start.

My barber is still open, but during my last visit a month ago, I thought he was being slack on some Covid precautions which is why I haven't gone back and why I bought the gizmo. Heck it was only about $40.
