I just realized every app in my iPhone’s dock is built on open source and/or open standards.

@mdrockwell Interesting, what’s in your dock?

@pimoore Unread using FreshRSS for syncing, Mastodon, Firefox, and Pocket Casts.

@mdrockwell Is that a beta for Mastodon or just a link to the web app?

@pimoore a link to the web app. It actually works pretty well, though. I haven’t explored the native apps available too much quite yet. I did sign up to join the official app beta, but haven’t received an invite yet.

@mdrockwell I’ll have to do that too. I’ve been checking out Metatext lately and it seems pretty good. Mast looks interesting but it’s a paid app, so I’m looking at free options first.

@pimoore Metatext is my go to currently. Toot! Is also very good. Eugen is working on an official app that’s currently in TestFlight.

@pimoore @mdrockwell @mcg My go-to for a long time has been Pinafore (also a web app, but compared to the native apps I'd been using before, the performance was much better and it was much less buggy). But it's been a long time since I used anything else, so the ones I'd tried are probably much improved now, anyway. It's the great thing about open standards – you can get spoilt for choice 😄
