What’s everyones’ take on tag clouds? Lame or kind of retro cool?

@mdrockwell personally I think they are ok, but you need to take into account that it might influence someone’s decision to click/tap on a popular tag… yet some gems are hidden in not so popular ones. So, I’d have a clean looking one, but not emphasise the popularity of one or the other. Keep it random. If that makes sense…

@vincent @mdrockwell Have to agree with Vincent on this one, what’s highlighted as being popular to one person may spark no interest for someone else. I like the idea of an index much more than a tag cloud.

@mdrockwell both. I don’t think they’re particularly useful, but they can look quite cool.

@vincent that's a good take. I could certainly set it up so there's no difference in text size.

@mdrockwell Never been a fan: they make it hard to find what I want, and if I’m reading some other content, they can be distractions.

@splinter I'm thinking about putting one on my archive page, which lists the titles of my longer articles. I'm currently thinking of setting one up where all of the tags are the same size and randomly ordered.

@mdrockwell Maybe a bunch of filter options would help? Alphabetical/popular/least popular/random?
