The chin is lame and the silver model is the best color option. https://initialcharge.net/2021/04/m1-imac/
@mdrockwell Isn’t it so one doesn’t have to touch the glass? (I have no idea).
@mdrockwell I think Apple prefer being recognizable (screen with chin) instead of being generic (the screen only). This doesn't explain everything, though.
@mdrockwell My understanding is that the chin contains the actual computer, with the screen directly above it, hence why the new iMacs are so thin.
@odd I mean, you could still adjust the screen by touching the bezels. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
@numericcitizen they could always put the logo on the bezel under the display, though. That's what they did with their Thunderbolt and Cinema Displays.
@wearsmanyhats I would gladly take an iMac that's twice as thick with no chin.
@mdrockwell what if it was an environmental motivation to reduce material consumption?
@numericcitizen I guess that's possible, but I'm not sure if reducing height and width while increasing thickness would result in an increased amount of material used. I haven't done any of the math on that, though.
