I wonder if the new M2 13” MacBook Pro is a good purchase for coding and writing, or if I’d better wait until fall to see if they get a M2, 15” or 16”… My eyes aren’t getting any younger.

@mcg Thanks for your input! I was afraid the Air is too underclocked because of the missing fans. Maybe I’ll wait.
@odd Hard to say for sure until folks review it. The M1 Air didn’t have any significant perf degradation compared to the M1 13” MBP.
@odd I don’t know what you are coding, but if your compile times are pretty short (0-3 minutes), I bet that thermal throttling would not even kick in. That’s how the M1 is in the M1 MacBook Air. Wait for some reviews from actual coders.
@Archimage Thanks, I was worried about long compile times for a non-fan machine. You compile in Xcode, do you often have to wait long for the project to compile?
@odd Compiling is never a problem speedwise. At most a couple of seconds. Usually, it takes a while to install initially. Downloads, given my internet, are slow.
@Archimage Oh, that’s good to know! I’d love to have a thin and silent machine (unlike myself 😜).
@Archimage Thank you. Very interesting! Now the question is: do I need a MBA right now, or should I wait until September and weigh my options then…
