Just submitted a feature request to Mastodon for a timeline sync API. It would be cool if you could seamlessly transition between apps and devices without losing your place in the timeline. in case anyone wanted to voice their support for it: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/... mike.rockwell.mx

@mcg oh, woah! Do you know of any clients that actually use it? It doesn’t seem like any I tested did.

@mdrockwell A quick look at Metatext’s GitHub and it appears to be. Toot! holds position similarly, so it might be. None of these work as Tweetbot does with position hold/sync and I don’t know of any web or desktop client that appears to use it.

@mcg interesting. So Metatext is using it, but not in a way that allows me to maintain timeline position between the iPhone and iPad app. I’m not sure if I understand the point of using it if not for that.

@mdrockwell @mcg Agreed that makes no sense, it seems like an oversight. If they’re already marking the read position, you’d think it’s nothing at all to send that info between devices.
