🌂 The rainy season has begun. Prepping myself up for our third winter in Copenhagen. While I don’t mind the rain (have most of the gear to endure), I really dislike the wind. Always have. Wish someone would create a magnetic field that envelops you like an invisible umbrella.

@kaa Weirdly enough it’s the wind I remember most from my exchange semester I did in Aarhus. Soo cold and headache inducing. Take care! 🍃

@matti @kaa We live in a very windy part of the world and it can be crazy-making. Sometimes it goes for days. It's such a relief when it stops.

@Miraz I live in a very windy part of the world...and I'm sad whenever it stops. I swear I was born to live in a lighthouse. Or I used to be dog that liked to stick its head out of the car window on the highway.

@Miraz @kaa One thing that makes the cold in Finland acceptable is the lack of wind. -15°C isn't that bad if that wind doesn't multiply that by 2 in terms of how it feels. -30°C is just too cold, though. Windy or not. ;)

@cliffordbeshers Urgh. Clearly you and I are polar opposites —with regard to wind, anyway. 😀

@matti @kaa Oh yes, biting cold is awful! Never gets anywhere near that cold here, thank goodness.

@matti Damn -15°C is cold enough! Interesting that you have no wind. Is that because of the mountains? DK is flat as a pancake so it gets incredibly windy here.

@Miraz but I imagine the temperature dont dip below a certain point? Is wind chill and issue as well....who am I kidding, wind sucks if you are not in a vehicle or indoors :)

@kaa Actually Finland is also prety flat (apart from the fells in the north). I assume Denmark is so windy because it is mostly seashore, whereas Finland is not like that. On the fells it can be windy and I assume along the coast, too (even though I have not spent lots of time there). Here in landlocked Kuusamo it's mostly fine.

@kaa As a few islands surrounded by vast ocean, and with big mountains in chains or alone, wind can be complicated here. There are biting southerlies that can come off Antarctica, roaring northerlies, warmed by the tropics and loaded with rain picked up from the ocean. Only mountainous points get snowfall but it certainly gets down to freezing on the flat.
