The discovery at micro.blog is terrible. TERRIBLE. It's one of my biggest gripes. It is not a priority so don't hold your breath. A year ago I BEGGED to have a climate emoji established. Still not there as far as I can see. The whole emoji-based searching is kinda ridiculous given that it will only find posts that have been added to the community timeline anyway (as far as I understand it). I've seen quite a few "Oh, yeah, this is something we need to work on" type responses from Manton with nothing to show for it. I think I've been seeing that for a couple years.

It's a persistant failure that really undermines the claim that micro.blog is meant to create or encourage community.

@Denny you might bring this up to @KimberlyHirsh… she is in charge of the discovery portion.

It is. Emoji categories haven’t been touched in as long as I’ve been here I don’t think. There’s a pointless list of “community suggested” ones with some great ideas that are just stagnant. No Olympics category?! What a missed opportunity!

Photos being an offshoot of discover and being so slowly curated makes me feel like I just can’t explore the community here at the moment properly.

Even the advancement in themes are thanks to a 3rd party.
